How does Clyp work?
Upload your audio file (or record something new) and Clyp turns it into a shareable short link which can be shared or embedded anywhere.
How do I log in to Clyp?
To log in to Clyp just hit the "Log In" link in the top right of the navigation menu. You will be prompted to log in with your email address and password, or through Facebook. To log in on the app, hit the big orange log in button under the Profile tab and you will be given the same log in options as the website (email log in only available on iOS).
How do I upload audio to Clyp?
You can upload an audio file to Clyp on any page. Just click the "upload" button or drag and drop your file onto any page.
How do I record audio with Clyp? (web and app)
You can record audio directly to Clyp by clicking any "upload" button on the website and selecting the "record" tab. From there you just press the big orange record button to start recording. Keep in mind that recording is only available in certain modern browsers. You can also record audio through our iOS and Android apps.
Do I need a microphone to record audio?
Most computers these days come with microphones installed. Depending on which browser you're using, you may need to allow Clyp access to the microphone.
Does Clyp work on iPhone, Android and other mobile devices?
Yes, record works in select mobile browsers and upload only works on Android. Our iOS and Android apps are the best way to record.
I already have a following on another audio sharing platform, why should I upload my audio to Clyp?
On Clyp you can promote your existing channels while expanding your listener audience. Your audio can live here and elsewhere at the same time. Other audio sharing platforms favor more widely-known creators. Clyp gives you a chance to stand out from the crowd and be an early contributor to a fast-growing community with millions of monthly listeners.
How is this different than SoundCloud?
1) There's no account required to record or upload audio. 2) It's ridiculously easy to upload or record audio with Clyp. Just drop your audio file anywhere on the site or press the big orange record button. 3) Anti-censorship. Everyone has a right to be themselves. As long as your content is legal, we won't judge. 4) Open API. Developers can utilize our badass API to add audio uploading to their site or app.
How do Featured Submissions work?
You can submit as many different Clyps as you want during the submission/voting window. The voting window lasts from Monday at 12:00 am through Friday at 11:59 pm (GMT). During the voting window, the community votes on the Clyps they like best. After a 2-day review period, the top 10 with the most votes will be added to the Featured List on the homepage for the following week. You are allowed to encourage your friends to vote, but do not rig the voting system. We reserve the right to remove your Clyp from the list.
What is a private Clyp?
A private Clyp will not be searchable and will never show up on any of our lists. We respect your privacy. However, anyone you share the link with will be able to access your Clyp.
How do I make a Clyp private?
Go to your profile page and find the Clyp that you want to make private. Click the "Edit details" button for that particular Clyp to see the basic and advanced settings. When the popup appears, select the "advanced" tab. Here you can make the Clyp private. After you do, you'll notice a new longer private URL.
How do I enable downloads?
Go to your profile page and find the Clyp that you want to enable downloads for. Click the "Edit details" button for that particular Clyp to see the basic and advanced settings. When the popup appears, select the "advanced" tab. From here you can turn downloads on or off.
How do I disable comments?
Go to your profile page and find the Clyp that you want to disable comments for. Click the "Edit details" button for that particular Clyp to see the basic and advanced settings. When the popup appears, select the "advanced" tab. From here you can disable comments.
What is a saved Clyp?
A saved Clyp is like a bookmark. You can keep track of all the cool Clyps you come across and save them to listen to later.
Are there any upload/recording limits?
We limit audio uploads by file size, not by file length. Some audio file types are larger in nature compared to others. For example, a 128kbps mp3 file is going to be much smaller in size when comapred to a .WAV file. The file size limit per upload is 100mb, which works out to about an hour if you're uploading an mp3 file.
What types of audio files do you accept?
We accept the following audio file types: mp3, ogg, m4a, wav, aiff, aif and 3gpp
How do I share my Clyp to Facebook?
To share a Clyp to Facebook, just hit the Facebook icon on the player page. A popup will apear after you hit the Facebook icon and you can say whatever you want about the Clyp in your post. Alternatively, you can just copy and paste the short URL into your Facebook status. On the apps, you have the option of sharing directly to Facebook whenever you're adding in a title and description to your Clyp - just tap the small Facebook icon. You can also share it once you've uploaded your Clyp by tapping the share arrow icon and selecting Facebook.
How do I share my Clyp to Twitter?
It's basically the same approach as Facebook. You can click the Twitter logo on the player page or copy the link directly into a Tweet. You can also share via the apps with the same approach.
How does your widget work?
To use the widget, go to the player page of the desired Clyp and copy the markup to embed a Clyp on your website or on reddit. Simply copy the code and paste it wherever you want.
How do I embed audio in a reddit post?
Follow the steps above and choose "Markdown Link" and then paste this into your reddit post.
